From Witchcraft to Freedom: Drichi’s Story of Redemption in Nimule

God is at work in Nimule, South Sudan, and lives are being transformed in powerful ways.

Through a recent home fellowship outreach led by our local Flagship church team, more than 307 people heard the Gospel, many for the first time. As a result:

  • 34 individuals gave their lives to Jesus Christ
  • 4 people were restored in their faith
  • 1 child was dedicated to the Lord

Among those who responded to the message of hope was a man named Drichi, whose story reminds us that no one is beyond God’s reach.

Drichi is a former soldier. During his military service, he was deployed to the Democratic Republic of Congo. While there, he sought protection through a local witch doctor. As part of the ritual, charms were inserted into deep cuts on both of his upper arms, meant to make him invincible to gunfire.

But the cost was unthinkable.

To maintain the power of the charms, Drichi was told he would have to take human lives as a form of sacrifice.

Years later, during a time of prayer in one of our home fellowships, the Holy Spirit moved powerfully in Drichi’s heart. He came forward in tears, surrendered his life to Jesus, and made a public declaration of faith. He then brought every charm he had been given and watched them burn as our team prayed over him.

“I don’t want to live in fear or bloodshed anymore,” he shared. “I have found true protection in Jesus Christ.”

Drichi’s testimony is just one example of how God is using indigenous leaders and simple house gatherings to bring deep transformation to communities in South Sudan.

Will you continue to pray with us for Drichi and the many others who are finding freedom in Christ?

And if you want to be part of what God is doing across South Sudan, Sudan, and Congo, your support helps local pastors and evangelists continue this life-changing work.
