Hi, my name is Yengi Bismarck.
I currently serve as the Country Director for Seed Effect South Sudan. Alongside this role, I also serve as the attorney for my local church and Empower One. I’m a trained lawyer, and in 2023 I had the honor of doing my legal internship at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, one of the leading international law firms, in their Dallas and Fort Worth offices in the United States.
Why do I love what I do?
Seed Effect’s mission is to go where others won’t, to serve people in the most insecure, forgotten, and underserved places. That mission speaks deeply to me. I grew up with very little. I didn’t have much, and I didn’t expect much. But through God’s grace, I’ve come to a place where I can now serve those who are walking the same hard road I once did.
That’s why I’m so passionate about this work. I want to help others rise, just as I was lifted.
And when it comes to Empower One and the Church, serving as its attorney is not just fulfilling, it’s personal. The Church and Empower One shaped who I am. It gave me hope, taught me how to think, how to live, how to love. I owe much of my life to the Church, and offering my legal skills back to the body of Christ feels like coming home.
How does my legal work make a difference?
I’m incredibly grateful to serve Empower One and the broader community in a legal capacity. Over the past few years, we’ve made great progress in ensuring legal compliance, for the Church, for our institutions, and for Empower One itself.
I help review contracts and policies. I provide legal guidance on how to carry out disciplinary actions fairly and in accordance with natural justice. I make sure our Bible school and Ebenezer FM radio station are properly registered and compliant with the laws of our land.
This kind of behind-the-scenes legal work is making a real difference. It helps us stay accountable, transparent, and respected by authorities. It tells the world that we don’t just preach truth, we live it. And I count it a blessing that God has entrusted me with this responsibility.
How My Education is Playing a Role
Let me tell you a little story.
I never wanted to study at Ebenezer Primary or Ebenezer Secondary School, Schools heavily Influenced by Empower One. I thought I deserved to be in “better” schools. At the time, I didn’t understand why God would let me struggle or suffer. Honestly, I questioned Him. I even hated the thought of church and anything related to it.
But somehow, despite my resistance, I found myself in Ebenezer. And it turned out to be the place where everything changed. Empower One had poured its heart and resources into that school, and through it, I encountered more than education. I encountered God.
Ebenezer didn’t just teach me how to pass exams, it taught me how to live. It shaped my heart, my attitude, and my beliefs. It gave me a foundation of character, values, and principles that I now carry into my legal career.
Today, nobody asks me about my grades. But they do notice how I carry myself. They see the ethics, the integrity, and the values that were planted in me at Ebenezer. And for that, I’m forever grateful.
Indeed, we may have many plans for our lives, but God’s purpose always wins in the end. My education is helping me serve with good values and integrity. Someone once told me, “There’s nothing as awesome as being served by a godly lawyer.” To me, that was a huge statement. It’s humbling, and it’s a reminder of the kind of impact I want to keep making.
To our supporters, thank you.
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank the donors and supporters of Empower One. You may not know it, but you’re changing destinies. You’re not just supporting programs, you’re restoring dreams, healing families, and building nations.
I am who I am today because of the seeds you’ve sown. May the Lord bless you, guide you, and use your generosity to keep changing lives, one story at a time.
