Our Statement of Beliefs

The Scriptures

We believe that the Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, are divinely inspired and given by God and therefore free from error and untruths (as they appeared in the original manuscripts); that they are necessary and clear for knowing and understanding the gospel of salvation, and they are the supreme standard in all matters of faith and practice.

Exodus 24:4 • Deut. 4:1-2 • Psalm 19:7-10 • Matt. 5:17-18 • Luke 24:27; 44 • John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17 • Rom. 15:4; 16:25-26 • 1 Cor. 2:13 • 2 Tim. 3:15-17 • Heb. 1:1-2; 4:12 • 1 Peter 1:25 • 2 Peter 1:19-21

The Triune God

We believe in the one and only true God who eternally exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the distinctive mark of the Christian faith and life.

Deut. 4:35; 6:4 • Isaiah 43:10 • Matt. 28:18-19 • Mark 12:29 • John 1:14 • Acts 5:3-4 • 1Cor. 8:4-6 • Eph. 4:4-6 • Rev. 22:13

God the Father

We believe in God the Father, creator of heaven and earth and ruler over all His creation according to His sovereign will, who through grace and love offered his Son, Jesus Christ as redemption for mankind.

Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God, His virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious and atoning death on the cross, burial, bodily resurrection, ascension, present ministry of intercession, and His imminent, future return to reign as King.

Matt. 1:18-25 • Luke 1:34-35 • John 1:1-18 • Acts 1:9-11 • Rom. 5:8 • 1 Cor. 15:1-28 • 2 Cor. 5:21 • Phil. 2:6-11 • Col. 1:15-23 • 1 Tim. 2:5-6 • Heb. 1:1-6; 4:15-16; 7:23-25 • 1 Peter 2:21-25; 3:18 • 1 John 2:2

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the divine Holy Spirit who draws people to Christ, convicts people of sin, and regenerates and indwells all believers. The Holy Spirit fills and comforts the believer, enables him to grow in holiness, and equips the believer with spiritual gifts for the edification of the body of Christ.

Man

We believe that Adam and Eve, created in the image of God, were tempted by Satan and disobeyed God; that all people have inherited their sin and by nature and choice are deserving of God’s righteous judgment; that man is unable to save himself or contribute in any way toward his acceptance before God and therefore that all people are in need of a Savior.

The Gospel and Salvation

We believe that Christ’s life, death, burial and resurrection is the good news of the gospel and provides the only way of salvation for sinful mankind. We believe that salvation is a gift of God to those who repent and trust only upon the person and work of Jesus Christ whose death on the cross in our place satisfied the demands of God’s righteous judgment.

We believe that salvation means the believer has been made a new creation, declared righteous before God, forever secure in Christ, and given the gift of eternal life which cannot be lost.

John 3:16 • Acts 16:30-31 • Rom. 1:16-17; 3:20-31; 4:22-25; 5:6; 6:6; 8:1-17; 10:8-13 • 1 Cor. 15:1-4 • 2 Cor. 5:21 • Eph. 1:13-14; 2:8-10 • Phil. 3:9 • Col. 1:21-22 • Titus 3:3-7 • 1 Peter 3:18 • 1 John 1:8-2:2

The Church

We believe the Church, the body of Christ, is made up of all believers from all nations who have turned from sin in repentance and trusted only upon the person and work of Jesus Christ for salvation.

We believe a local church is an autonomous group of baptized believers who have covenanted together as a local church under identifiable church leaders gathering together regularly to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They do this through worshiping and praying to God through Jesus Christ, teaching, studying, and obeying God’s Word, exercising spiritual gifts and service for the edification of the body of Christ, and observing the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Local churches scatter into the world for the purpose of making disciples of all nations.
