“for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
– Psalm 107:9
The Satisfy project is rooted in the goodness of God, revealed in meeting the physical needs of the world’s most desperate. Water is an essential for life. It is easy to take water for granted and become unaware of it’s importance in our daily life. Water quenches our thirst, used for cooking, washing and growing the food we eat. It’s not until our access to water is shut off or limited are we reminded of it’s vitality.
This is the reality for many refugees in north east Africa. There is a great migration of people being forced to leave their homes due to war and violence which results in the sustainability. There are hundreds of thousands of refugees that have taken refuge in northern Uganda. They come from South Sudan, Sudan and The Democratic Republic of Congo. Many of these refugees have inadequate water sources there impact their physical health and limit their ability to grow the necessary food that leads to self-sustainability.
Empower One is working to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ into these refugee camps. The devastation of war and the resulting migration into refugee camps has opened the door to the receptivity of the Gospel like we’ve never seen. The Gospel is being proclaimed, leaders are being training, churches are being planted and communities are being transformed.
One way that we build relationships and communicate that we love people is by meeting their physical needs. We are working to dig more wells that satisfy the thirst in these camps. We are training and providing irrigation so that they can grow the necessary food they need. We are providing churches with ovens so that they can not only help build an economy for they’re people but also provide food for the “least of these.”
