General

What exactly does Empower One do?

We train local leaders to reach people with no gopsel access. Our school is the centerpiece of how we train leaders.

Our vision is for the local church to be a catalyst of the gospel movement to unreached peoples. In action this means that we train local leaders to reach people with no gospel access.

In short, we come alongside the local church on the field. We provide training to help equip and develop church planters who can advance the Gospel among their people.

Where is Empower One located?

Our home base in the U.S. is Dallas, Texas. In Africa we serve in the 10/40 Window, South Sudan, Uganda and DR Congo.

How did Empower One start?

Back in 2005 Mike Congrove and David Kaya met for the first time. David Kaya shared with a group of country directors that he had just moved back to Sudan from two decades of living in a refugee camp in Uganda. He said he’d started ten new churches, but had run out of leaders to start any new churches.

By 2006 Mike and Kaya began a partnership for the gospel in South Sudan and Sudan, that continues to expand to unreached areas as Empower One trains local leaders to reach people with no gospel access.

Who are Empower One's local partners?

Empower One is a non-denominational organization. We partner with like-minded churches on the field. Churches must align with our Statement of Beliefs as well as hold to our vision for the local church to be a catalyst of the gospel movement to unreached peoples.

Can you tell me more about your short-term trips?

Empower One utilizes short-term mission trips to help fulfill our vision for the local church to be a catalyst of the gospel movement to unreached peoples. We do this by partnering local churches in the US with our partner churches in the mission field. At the invitation of our national partners, this US team will come alongside the national church in strengthening an existing church, assist in sharing the gospel in an unreached area or even help in training at one of Empower One School of Church Planting training sites. You can find a listing of all current trips here. Select the trip you are interested in to begin the application process. After completing the application, the trip leader will contact you to answer any further questions.

How are trip costs determined?

All trip prices include domestic and international airfare from the advertised departure city, food, housing, transportation, ministry tools and training, supplemental travel insurance and any travel fees. As we seek to engage unreached peoples, this often includes locations where travel is challenging. Transportation, housing and food make up the majority of the cost of trips.

Does Empower One help with fundraising?

When you are accepted to join a short-term trip, you will be provided with a fundraising platform that is unique to you and your trip. You can share this platform on your social media sites to bring awareness to your trip. We also make available some examples of support raising letters that you can personalize and share with friends and family. Empower One can’t raise the necessary funds for you, but we will offer encouragement and tools to assist you.
